Fast Track Mentor Program: A New Chapter
In 2015, the O'Neil Mentor Program (OMP) was founded with a simple yet powerful mission: to provide guidance and support to young U.S. athletes beyond their coaches, home teams and parents. I recognized a crucial gap in mentorship, particularly for those in areas with limited exposure to the sport at the highest level. Aiming to fill that void, nurturing not just athletic talent but also fostering personal growth and resilience among our athletes.
Over the years, OMP achieved remarkable success. We proudly contributed to the journeys of numerous Team USA members, such as Paige Nodarse and Paige Dawson, who continue to shine in the senior division. Our program also saw athletes like Olympian Corinne Stoddard, Tulsa University rower Danica Swetz, and US Speedskating National Team member Marcus Howard excel and earn accolades in various arenas. Equally important are the stories of those who, while they may have moved on from competitive athletics, have pursued higher education and careers, embodying the values instilled during their time with us.
As time passed, circumstances led to a natural transition. The last of our athletes aged out just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which shifted priorities for many, myself included. As I embraced motherhood and ventured into entrepreneurship with the creation of O2 Custom Factory, OMP was set on the backburner. This shift, while inevitable, allowed for reflection and renewed focus.
Fast Track Mentor Program: A New Chapter
Now, for the ‘24-25 season, I am thrilled to announce the relaunch and evolution of our mentorship initiative under a new name: Fast Track Mentor Program. This merger with O2 Custom Factory represents an exciting opportunity to amplify our impact on young athletes across the nation. Our renewed commitment continues:
